Free SIE Practice Test & Question Bank
Real Securities Industry Essentials questions, one at a time, weighted to the FINRA blueprint — with the reasoning on every answer.
The fastest way to pass the SIE is not to read about it — it is to answer questions until the patterns are automatic. This free SIE practice exam serves real Securities Industry Essentials–style questions one at a time, with the reasoning on every one, so each miss teaches you something before you move on.
Do not drill evenly. Products and their risks is 44% of the exam and trading, accounts and prohibited activities is another 31% — three-quarters of your score lives in two domains. Use the filter below to weight your reps that way, and let the 9% regulatory tail earn your last hour, not your first.

The practice test
One question at a time, instant feedback, and the rationale in a reserved panel so nothing jumps when the answer appears. Filter by domain to drill a single block, or leave it on every domain for a mixed set. No signup, no backend — your run is tallied in the margin as you go.
Regulatory Framework Recall
A broker-dealer intends to share a customer's nonpublic personal information with a nonaffiliated marketing firm. Under Regulation S-P, what method must the broker-dealer use to allow the customer to restrict this sharing?
The rationale
Pick an answer and the reasoning lands here — including why the tempting option is the trap.

How to read your misses
A wrong answer is only wasted if you skip past why it was wrong. After each miss, do three things — this is where a question bank actually beats re-reading a chapter:
Name the trap, not just the fact
Was it a true-but-irrelevant option? A definition you only half-knew? A rule whose exception you forgot? Label the failure, because the SIE reuses the same handful of trap shapes and you want to see the next one coming.
Tag the domain
If your misses cluster in products or trading, that is where your score is bleeding — and those two domains are 75% of the exam. A miss in the 9% regulatory block costs far less, so do not panic-study it at the expense of the heavy areas.
Re-drill the same domain within a day
Cram it, use it, let it settle. Filter to the weak domain, run it again the next day, and if it sticks, move on. Chasing a topic you already own is time you are not spending on the block that carries the points.
- Read every rationale, including on the questions you got right
- Weight your reps toward products (44%) and trading (31%)
- Re-run a weak domain the next day, then let it go
Where to go next
Questions are the engine, but they are not the whole plan. When a domain keeps tripping you, go read it, then come straight back and re-drill:
- Build a schedule with the SIE study plan
- Read the blueprint domain by domain in the SIE study guide
- Not sure how hard it is or how long to study? See how to pass the SIE exam
What carries the points
- Drill, don’t just read — answer questions and read every rationale.
- Three-quarters of the SIE is two domains (products 44%, trading 31%); weight your reps.
- Passing is 70 on a 0–100 scale, not 75 — score your runs against the real bar.
- A miss you diagnose is worth more than a right answer you guessed.
Common questions
Is this SIE practice test really free?
Yes — the full question bank on this page is free, no signup and no backend. Answer as many as you like, as often as you like. If you want the same drill on your phone with your progress saved, the app is one tap away.
How close are these to real SIE exam questions?
They are written to the FINRA content outline and weighted to the same blueprint — products and trading dominate, exactly as they do on the real exam. No legitimate practice bank reuses live FINRA items, and neither do we; these are original questions in the same style and difficulty band.
How is the real SIE scored, and what do I need to pass?
You need a 70 to pass, on a 0–100 scale — not the 75 that gets repeated all over the web. Score your practice runs against 70, and confirm the current format and item split at finra.org before exam day.
Which domain should I practice first?
Products and their risks. At 44% of the exam it is the single largest block, so it earns your first reps and your last review. Trading and accounts is another 31%. The 9% regulatory framework can wait — use the domain filter to spend your time in that proportion.
